Core Pain: How We Use Case Formulation Work to Create a Focus and Guide Therapy in EFT

This workshop will cover how we use case formulation in EFT with our clients to build step-by-step a shared understanding of the client’s process to guide therapy. Successful therapies, in early sessions, developed an understanding of the client’s core pain and focused on that. This workshop will look at how and when process-based formulations are developed during sessions with clients and at ways and opportunities to formulate our clients to guide our interventions in the moment. A practical format will be presented to assist therapists with formulating their clients to guide therapy, and there will be opportunities in the workshop to share and practice case formulations.

Each workshop in this series will offer a deep dive into an area of EFT practice to offer a deeper understanding of the practice area under consideration, to inspire confidence when working with clients in this way, and to provide a practice map for practitioners’ ongoing self-reflections and development.

About Barry Strmelj

Barry is a certified EFT Therapist and Supervisor and registered counselling psychologist working in private practice with individuals and couples. For many years, Barry has been a member of the AIEFT and participated in providing EFT training and supervision.
