EFT in Action: Moving from Training to Practice

Workshop 1 – How do we begin? Creating an internal focus

The AIEFT is excited to be hosting the workshop series ‘Emotion focused therapy in action’, run by Barry Strmelj. These workshops are suitable for practitioners with a background in EFT training (at least EFT Level 1) and who utilise, or are looking to incorporate EFT into their work with clients.

The first topic How do we begin? will look at the beginning of EFT therapy with a client. The person-centered roots of the following stance in EFT and the role of empathic reflection in developing a co-constructed internal focus will be explored. This is a foundational skill that contributes to the ‘oceans of empathy for the islands of work’ in EFT. Key features of the following stance will be elaborated on and emphasis will be placed on the co-creation and collaborative aspects of the empathic task in EFT. There will also be consideration of the blocks, challenges and difficulties associated with performing this task.

Each workshop in this series will offer a deep dive into an area of EFT practice to offer a deeper understanding of the practice area under consideration, to inspire confidence when working with clients in this way, and to provide a practice map for practitioners’ ongoing self-reflections and development.
